IN WHICH BEAR OBSERVES AN ALTERATION

One day the high temperature is 25°C (or 77F). The next day, the high is 17°C (63F).

Good grief, Charlie Brown. Is the ghost of Allen Funt back to haunt us?

A careful look at the trees shows another tell-tale sign. There is just the slightest tinge of yellow showing up in a few places, amongst the green leaves of the trees.

And the wind is blowing everything all over the place.

Say it isn't so, Irving Berlin!

But the truth is there for everyone to see. So I got out my trusty candid camera. Behold.

(Sorry that the trees are a bit blurred; I did say the wind is blowing.
Currently 24 k/h, meaning 15 m/h.)

As well, the clouds are hanging low over River City.

There is still a bit of blue sky behind the clouds, so things aren't all that bad. But we're starting the change of seasons. Time to get out the snow shovel.

Livestock Report

When I was out for my daily walk, I heard a Red-breasted Nuthatch. I haven't seen one of those for a while. I usually think of them as being winter birds, and they are. Although some made a nest in our apple tree a couple of years before we sold our house. Watching that process was fun.

Bear's Wit and Wisdom

If you think about the world, life becomes very depressing.
If you don't think about the world, nothing gets better. ~ Bear

Everybody should have a friend like Da Blog Fodder.

Don't get too pessimistically realistic. Keep seeing the silver lining aeound the clouds that are popping up in your skies. I so very much want you to be an optimist and not a cynic, alhough one does not necessarily exclude the other. I hope for a happy forecast and improved conditions :o)

The year may be slipping along but we're about to hit one of my favourite seasons (it also happens to be the season I was bron in) and any excuse for a party I always say!

So the weather's on the turn for you, Rob-bear. Back to hibernation time and for us, on the other side of the world, time to turn off the heaters and bring out the spring clothes.

Thanks so much for showing changing leaves and glorious weather! I'd almost forgotten what they looked like.

I loved your story about Mt. Sinai. I didn't know it ever snowed in Egypt. There's just so little precipitation in general, I rarely see rain, much less snow.

Our tree's here in Southern Illinois are turning brown from the drought. We've finally been getting some rain but too late for the crops.
Interesting Wit and Wisdom Bear. There in lies the rub, Eh?

I love the change of seasons. My favorite season is fall, and our summers are so short that I find myself happy to have an extended fall season. We usually do, too. So don't fret, Bear: I promise that summer will return.

I hope that I am not duplicating myself as my comment disappeared when I previewed it.

I have noticed that some of the trees here are starting to turn. We have had grey skies here all year. So no change there. It would be nice to have defined seasons.

It's happening here too! Come to think of it, our summer lasted three weeks! Time to pull out our long johns.

Clouds and rain. We treasure them around here in the summer.

Do bears eat grasshoppers? If so, come on down!

Well, it still looks and feels like summer around here but I won't mind the cooler days and nights of autumn. Spring may be my favorite season but all the others have advantages too. There were delicious wild raspberries in the park this summer and now the blackberries are ripening fast.

All we can do is whatever is needed day by day. Bear wisdom is just enough for now.

Life is a double edged sword isn't it? And here in GA - we are getting some trees with their leaves turning already - I am shocked. Sandie

Yes the news is so depressing. We have great weather right now. So we are making the most of it. Soon we'll have nothing but rain and rain and rain and rain and rain......

Fall is in the air, eh, Bear? Combines rolling anywhere yet or will be in a week or so I guess.
Weather has been holding around 25 in the day time and we have not had the AC on for several days now. but high 30's forecast for next week again. We have a month to go before it gets fallish here.

Well, do not worry about that snow shovel just yet as you will surely have a wonderful fall season. Do not hurry the changes along too quickly... enjoy the moments and the gradual change.

Here we will have the heat of summer and our daily rains for some time to come. For us, autumn is a few days at most when we get what I call the "California weather" and then we move on.

... AND to complicate things, it is now almost dark by 8pm ... winter is on its way Bear. Time for some quality sleep.

Thank you for the shock of your photo. Nothing changes color in Florida and I'm surprised by how quickly I adapted to that. I thought I'd roll in misery without beautiful fall colors and hills.

Now, I think when we go home for a visit soon, the hills will scare me. I haven't seen anything taller than Joe since we moved to this flat land....what is happening? Could I possibly be......adjusting? ME?

Or is that "adapting"? Dunno.

I hadn't noticed much change besides it getting dark earlier--but now that you mention it, there are subtle clues that fall is arriving.

Very nice pictures. But I am not yet ready to see a changing of colors. Or so many clouds. Oh my, I hope it doesn't happen here for at least another month.

you are deft with your candid camera, bear. i am now looking for those first hints of fall in our part of the world (and it came early - falsely - when the trees dropped leaves due to the drought)

perhaps hearing a red-breated nuthatch can bring a glimmer of light into the troubles of our world~

Totally agree; if you think too much your heads spins, not at all and you are a reality star.

Fall already?! Here in So.Calif. we are in the middle of high heat and wild fires. I wish it were autumn.

There is a huge old oak next door that overhangs our garden. I mowed the lawn Sunday and tell tail sounds of the bits that fall from it then to be followed by the leaves them the acorns. Time for Bear to start stocking up the den for winter?

OH, DEAR. I haven't had the energy to reply to your kind notes. But I do appreciate them. Happy thoughts from friends tend to restore the soul.

Bear is more or less OK, and getting slowly ready for the Big Sleep.
