WHOA! WHAT'S HAPPENING?

What is this bright light shining into my den?

What's this puddle of water beside where I'm sleeping?

Spring already?

Can't be; I haven't lost any weight.

OK. I'm out of my den, but the sun is way too bright. It's hard on my eyes. I'll look the other way.

Right. Clear blue sky — gorgeous! Sunny and warm. I'll bet it's 15°C. And the snow is all gone.

Time to stretch way up, and yawn, and shake my head, and try to come alive.

There are a couple of squirrels, running around the spruce trees, checking for any more seed cones.

I hear a chickadee, and a nuthatch. There are two thieving magpies chasing each other, practically right in front of my face. I hear a Blue Jay, right, . . . oh, there he is.

There's a Mountain Ash tree, with quite a few bright orange berries. I must have missed that one. Yeah; I was getting pretty dozy.

Seeing as I'm up, I might as well have something to eat. Those berries will be tasty.

Oh, but I'm stiff already. Grumble, trundle, mumble, trundle, mumble. …

Sigh.

I really hate it when my solar alarm clock goes off at the wrong time!

15 degrees? Yowza!

Solar Alarm clock?

® Jackie: Yes; far too nice to be sleeping. There's things to do and snacks to be eaten.

® Diva: 15°C = 59°F. Beautiful weather, if you're a Bear. Great time to gambol in the clearings or meadows! And eat up.

Solar alarm clock? Absolutely! When it's bright and sunny, and the light is shining into one's den, it's time to get up and get going! But not on a Harley. I don't think they build Harleys big enough for 550 pound Bears. Though I have seen come bikers who are almost that big.

Sounds gorgeous! I love the name chickadee. The British word for chickadees is boring by comparison so I'm going to call ours chickadees from now on. I don't suppose they'll mind.

Well, Bear, I thought I heard you stirring around... Those blue jays are quite noisy, especially if there is more than one!

Glad you said "hi" before you fell asleep again! Brrrrrrrr.... sounds cold there but I guess that is good for bears.

® Mags: Chickadees won't mind what you call them, especially if you've got sunflower seeds in the bird feeder when you call them!

® Genie: Thought I'd say "Hi" to let everyone know I'm doing OK. More or less.
And 15°C (59°F) isn't cold at all. The human side of me can be found wearing shorts in that weather. But it is particularly nice for Bears wearing heavy fur coats.

Wow....Easy there, Bear! Back to winter's den for you and me and a whole bunch of us.

It's true that this Fall is way too warm. No wonder you woke up. 15°C isn't normal.
Hope you'll be able to get back to sleep soon.

It sounds like one of those weird dreams that I often have.
Good Morning!

Now I know what that odd odor was that was blowing down from Canada.

® lakeviewer: Somehow, my whole body is out of sync. At this rate, I may never get back into hibernation mode.

® Dedine: Yes; another reason for my body to be out of sync. It's now (as of November 12th) close to high temperatures of zero°C, so I may get into hibernation.

® Diana: If only this WERE a dream.

® Dana: The assault on your olfactory sensors my be all the Canada geese flying south.

® Amanda: Well, yes; you have put a positive "spin" on the situation. But has your alarm clock ever woken you up just after you had finally gotten to sleep?
