There are times when life seems to get in the way of blogging.
That happened yesterday. Nothing in particular. I just, well, got busy. Like a dog heading out with his nose to the ground, and not particularly noticing where I was going.
That, I think, happens to all of us, sometimes.
Anyhow, Thursday's thoughts didn't materialize until this morning, because, um, other things were materializing yesterday.
The story is told of an old pastor. He was reflecting back on his ministry.
"I used to be bothered, when I was following our plans, about the interruptions getting in the way of my ministry. Then, one day, I discovered the interruptions were the ministry."
And that's the way it is.

I've been planning all my life. I hardly remember one particular moment that hadn't been rehearsed and dreaded, or reworked in my mind long after it had happened.
I wish I had the ability to focus on what is happening NOW instead of focusing on what might happen and what has already occurred.
What wisdom you have, Bear. I will remember your powereful words of the old pastor: "....one day, I discovered the interruptions were the ministry." Smiles to you, Rob....hoping that life continues to get in the way of all of us.
That is so true, and I love the quote from the minister! Life is what happens while you are busy elsewhere, or something to that effect.
® Beau's Mom: Thanks for your comment. Living in the NOW is really a lesson we know as kids, but somehow forget as adults. There's always time to relearn. I'm working on that.
® Teachers Pet: Thanks for the note. Life getting in way of plans. Yeah. Maybe keeps us sane?
® Karen: Glad you liked the story, and told me. Thanks. I think the quote is about life happening while we're busy making plans. Or something like that. I was trying to remember that when I did the post, but couldn't.
Oh that's such a great line, love. Yes I must take time to jsut enjoy the process - or the carpooling or just the sitting around and not waiting for something to "happen" Have a great weekend!
Words of wisdom...The Power of Now by Echert Tolle(sp?)..a little new age but it really openned my eyes on a lot of things...
This reminds me of how we used to say "Everything is everything" and the new one, "It is what it is". Sometimes I tend to think my life is in this box and so be it if life passes me by. It's all life though isn't it?
® ALW: Yes, Jody, taking time and enjoying. Thanks for the thought.
® afcg: Tolle it is. And, yes, I have his book. It's somewhere in the middle of the "to read" pile (which stretches from the floor almost to the ceiling). Lots to do on a cold winter's night, or day.
® Linda: We've got lots of choices, from going with the flow to making something happen.
Wise words that apply to any walk of life, I think, certainly to mine.
If only everything went the way it was supposed to, I'd really be confused! Love Di ♥
® Jean: Thanks. The ideas are transferable, indeed.
® Diana: Oh, dear. Well, we certainly wouldn't want you to be confused. Perhaps we'd need to re-orient you somehow. Maybe I'll have a chance to think about it while I'm hibernating.
Thanks.
Yep. Nailed it.
® JC Newbery: Thanks — for dropping by, and for the supportive remark.
To enjoy blogging, just go with the flow.
My, what a fine meditation for Sunday eve. Thank you, Bear.
® potsoc: Thank you, Paul, for your thought. Going with the flow is a good. But sometimes I'm very intentional, and that comes through. Too much the career journalist, I think.
® Lydia: Glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for saying so.
Life can often get in the way of blogging. We're leaving for Fort Benning, GA to see my 17-year-old graduate from Army Basic Training and then a week of vacation in Pensecola and Destin area of Florida. No blogging!
Graduation and celebration go together. Hope it's a wonderful time.
In honour of the event, we'll give you "time off for good behaviour" at your Gutsy Blog.
"The interruptions are the ministry."
Love it. It's real. It's life.
I think this applies to me!
Life is why I haven't been here for a few days!
® Reforming Geek: Life it is, indeed. Thanks.
® Tattie Weasle: I think it speaks to all our lives. Thanks.
® cheshire wife: Too much life; not enough planning? Doesn't sound like you. Perhaps you got run over by a freight train while trying to "keep calm and carry on." Bear knows what that's like. Thanks.
