YES, WELL . . .

Sprong. Eyes open. Squish. Eyes shut — sunlight is way too strong.

Yawn. Stretch. Shake. Roll. Scratch. Crawl to the mouth of my cave. Bright sunlight; almost blinding — being reflected off the snow.

False alarm. More time to hibernate. Sigh.

By the way, Groundhogs know the square root of zip about weather and the coming of spring. You want to know when spring starts? It starts when Bears quit hibernating. You can trust me on that.

Stretch again. Scratch my back on the ground. Shake and settle back in. Grrrrzzzz . . .

Bright sunlight here today but you are right, what do they now???? I heard on radio they are right only 30 some percent of the time. I could guess better than that and we always do have winter (at least here) until April.

Are you taking your 2 drops of iodine each day for radiation??? Lugols. Radiation from Fukishima has been noted as far as PA but not mentioned by news media.

Back to sleep for you.... See you in the spring.

Stay warm. We'll wait.

Stay warm, Bear. Spring is on the way, but it will be awhile yet. Mr. Groundhog only has a 39% accuracy rate, ya know. :-)

I hope you will have a early spring. Better weather and not so up and down either.

Put on the sun shades and play soothing music. You'll be back to sleep in no time.

Pleasant dreams!

Bear, thanks for your visit during that brief hibernation break.

It's below freezing here in NYC, with a light dusting of snow on the ground. Spring must be right around the corner...not sure which street, though.

bear, you could have lied a tad, told us that we have blooms coming soon. You know that people live on fantasy...

So, I take it that you are not up yet....
So, you aren't reading this.

So glad I found you this morning, in spite of your grumpy bear demeanor! (I love that you still visit me, isn't cyberspace a wonderful thing?)

Our Gaspé groundhog as predicted a late spring...but???
Rest well and watch that river by your den, don't get wet come spring.

This is the beginning of a slow awakening, I suppose. I guess you will soon be joining the living again. I hope your hibernation has been a good one and very restorative. At least you missed the worst of the cold in your warm bed. xox

Thanks for sniffing the air a tad. It makes me feel as if spring is only a doze or two away now.

I appreciate that you need your sleep, but I am worried that by sleeping when the sun is out that you may develop rickets. Osteoporosis and other nasties are a real threat as we get older.

R-bear - so happy that you've emerged from your den (if only momentarily!) I wonder if bears look for their shadows like groundhogs? Probably not, as they are smart enough to stay asleep until winter is really over.

Count me among those eager for the real spring and your awakening from hibernation. It can't be too long now, can it?

Oooh I want to hibernate, it makes so much sense in the cold dark depths of winter. Flowers are beginning to sprout shoots here though and the days are beginning to gradually lengthen...

Sunny but cold today, I might just hibernate over the weekend, good excuse to read the pile of books on my bedside.

Hi Rob-Bear! Agree, bears are much better indicators of spring than groundhogs. And bears are warm, groundhogs are just grouchy!

Thanks for dropping by my blog while I was recovering from a nasty flu. Hope all is well where you are even with all the blinding sunlight reflecting off the snow. Haven’t had a lot of snow this year where I am on the East Coast but I am not complaining. My dogs might complain, they are Northern dogs and love the snow, but I only like it in small doses. Awaiting spring! :)

Seems like spring here starts when my Samoyed starts shedding his fur. But he got tricked this year, it was warm, no it's cold again. We'll see if remaining winter fur will stick. Hope all is well with you in your cave. Thanks for checking in with me in the midst of all my medical stuff.

WOW! What wonderful friends with which I'm blessed! I write a little piece of mid-winter nonsense, and 21 of you (at last count) check in on me.

That is very touching, friends. Thank you so much.

Back to hibernating. See you in the spring. Thanks again.

Grrzzzzzz.

I hope you're resting peacefully, Bear. I wish I could hibernate... if just for a couple days! Oh well... Back to reading a few more blogs!
