"Problems are solved by moving ahead." ~ Anon.
Verbs. Verbs are what carry the action in any story. Not linking verbs like "is." Not passive verbs. Active verbs. Verbs are where the action is.
As regular readers to the blog know, I have lived with depression most/all of my adult life. In addition, about six years ago, I went through a heart and soul-destroying experience, which left me unable to work. I struggled through my life on a disability pension. Then, I experienced forced retirement when I turned 65. I also have been suffering with truly debilitating physical pain. Then, I was challenged by the move from a home to an apartment.
The pain continues, only slightly better-controlled.
Recent experiences, however, have transformed me.
1. The first transformation arrived in new medication, which changed my thinking and did a little to ease my pain.
2. The second transformation arrived in a new attitude, after moving homes. I'm not going to sign up for the Boston Marathon, or anything like that, until I see just how much energy I have (for more than a day or two).
In the meantime, I'm going to just keep on moving.

Well this is good news! Email me the name of that medication, I may have to check it out!
Pain is a pain! (((Hugs)))
..... aMazing!
When Medication does its job, the iMpact is lifechanging.
Boston, here you coMe.
Good Morning ... m word ... Bear.
Music is another, and one can always Make Music, with or without instruments. Sometimes the music can be a familiar tune that gives pleasure, sometimes a new tune that catches our imagination.
Best wishes.
Sometimes it is just one foot in front of the other. So happy to hear you are feeling better.
I can't imagine what you go through every day, but sounds like you are focusing on the positive. And thank goodness that the new medication is doing something. Agree with helen: Boston here you come!
I hope that you have now settled into your new home and will be very happy there. Stay positive and keep taking the tablets!
Love new positive attitudes. Wonderful news Rob!
I finally found ALEVE. It seemed to help my horrid arthritis in my shoulders and neck...until other things started to go wrong and I finally read the directions on dosage...hmmm....it seems like THREE TIMES the recommended dosage DOES work on pain...but can be disabling. I'm ALSO finding out there are a LOT of advantages in a new home and outlook. I call it "atmospheric advantage".
Mr Bear, you are one of the loveliest with a soul to match. Keep those transformations coming and always keep moving.
Thanks so much for your supportive comments!
The medication is indeed working well.
I've been away for a few days, so I'm trying to catch up with my notes.
® Diva: I think you are already know what they are.
® Helen: Yes, aMazing indeed. But I still don't think I'm ready for Bawstun.
® Frances: Yes! Another excuse to get out my five-stringed banjo, and terrorize the neighbourhood.
® Nancy: Yes; one foot in front of the other. It's called Making progress.
®ALW: Not ready for Boston, but I'm regularly giving myself a walk around the block. Several blocks in fact.
So good to hear that upbeat tone in your words RB and that you are having a slightly easier time of late.
You will know I understand EXACTLY what you're talking about.
I've found I push onwards and upwards and 'use' the good days and take life easy and be kind myself on the not so good.
You're spot on - just keep on moving. We're all behind you if you need it ;) xx
I'm glad to hear you're feeling more upbeat!
i love what you say about verbs - as important in writing as they are in life. problems are solved by moving ahead.......from what you write here, you are living proof. god bless you bear - so glad to hear you are experiencing small epiphanies.
as for the challenge, how about:
M for a.......Greek, of course!
® CW: Yes, we are getting settled in. Not entirely, but enough that we don't feel guilty taking some time to go the Farmers' Market on the weekend, or walking the neighbourhood, or such.
And I'll be good, and keep taking my tablets and capsules. Truth be told, though, I'm taking so many things that I feel like a walking dispensary.
GW: Thanks for noticing the positive. I'll have something more on that in a few days, Sonia.
BTW, what are the kinds of things one puts on a life list? Things you want to do, or have done, or both?
® Lins': Thank you for the "sweet as honey" comments. The transformations are continuing. More, later.
® Bluestocking Mom: Upbeat is certainly better than beat up (which is how I feel a lot of days).
I really appreciate your expression about using the good days and being gentle on the tougher ones.
And we do get by with a little help from our friends.
I'll send you an e-mail.
® Eagle: Thank you.
® Amanda: Using strong verbs was one of the things I learned when studying radio news. You want to keep the listeners in the action.
As for M, could that be M for Menelaus, perhaps? (Doesn't quite fit.) M for Mercury? (No, he's Roman.) Hmmmmmm. . . .
This post Made Me feel Mellow!
® dana: Glad you've discovered something that will Alleviate some of your pain. From increased medication to "atmospheric advantage." (Love that phrase!) I've tried that range of change, with some signs of improvement.
® Lydia: Mellow, without the yellow. Yes!
