AH, SPRING . . . THE OTHER SIDE

"March winds and April showers bring forth May flowers."
That's the way it should be.
But this is RIDICULOUS!

This is a "Winter Storm" in April. ("Winter Storm" according to the meteorologists at Environment Canada.)
Moderate to heavy snow. High winds (up to 107 km/hr).
Snow blowing sideways instead of falling downwards.
"Whiteout" (blizzard) conditions on a number of roads
(including Highway 16, the equivalent of a British Motorway,
that connects Regina and Saskatoon,
Saskatchewan's two main cities).
Cars and trucks (lorries) in the ditches.
Her Ladyship, Miss Sadie, doesn't even want to go out in this.
Nor does the Bear.
Sigh! Grr @$#%$^rr!
Today was set aside as a day to start getting
our vegetable and flower gardens ready
(though way too early to plant vegetables —
as you can see).
Next week, I guess.
I'm not going to shovel the snow; we might get more over night.
Or it might all melt tomorrow.
Time to hang out with J and Sadie, have a hot cuppa tea,
and read a book.

Fuggerwuggerschnortzug! Poor Canada. :(

®Natalie: You have an amazing way with words! (Of course, I already knew that, from reading your blogs.)

I think I'd like to add "Fuggerwuggerschnortzug!" to my dictionary, if that's all right with you.

I hope they got lots of snow on the west side. Kevin Hursh says it is really dry.

The Lord giveth, the Lord taketh away. Blessed be the name of the Lord. In April you don't shovel as it will melt in a day or two.

I think this is a belated April Fool's joke, Rob. I reckon you've gone round your garden with white foam and sprayed, sprayed, sprayed. You want us to feel sorrow and pity because here we are with temperatures up to the sixties and I'm going out now without a coat on.

I hope the rain comes and removes all this foam and you can bask in some spring warmth along with us Europeans.

thinking of you in these wintry conditions

Well we are only a week away from snow in Scotland . . . we had high winds and blizzards . . . it is now just about gone . . . hope yours doesn't last too long. We have gone from below zero and berludy cold to warm and sunny and double figures in a week!!!!!!!

®Blog Fodder: The storm came up from the south west, and also hit large parts of Alberta. I understand North Battleford was one of the places which were likely to get lots of snow.

®FF: If this is a late "April Fool's joke" which has been perpetrated upon us, Bear, J, and Sadie join in saying, "We are not amused."

®WW: Perhaps this is why so many Scots felt entirely at home on the Prairies.

Oh, I'm sooooo sorry, Rob! That's so horrible! Hope it melts quickly and that you are able to get on with your spring gardening!! Big hugs and warm thoughts, Janine

snow and snuggling....it always sounds better in theory than action.

®Janine: The only thing we're guaranteed out here is 100% chance of weather each day. It snows, and rains, when it wants, and if that's inconvenient, well. . . . We're OK. Thanks for your concern.

®Dana: the smart thing it so turn theory into action. which is just fine.

Hope you are finally getting some sunshine, dear Rob! I'm sending all the warmest thoughts I have your way to help defrost the deep freeze :-) Hugs, Janine

Oooh and all I was complainign about was some grey clouds! Do hope the sun has come out and all the snow melted. It has been a very very long winter this year- perhaps it will be an amazing summer???

®Janine: Yes; we're getting sunshine, and even a bit of rain. Things are looking up. Working on the lawn; thinking about the garden (still way toooo early to plant anything).

®TW: Things are better now. Remember, in front of every silver lining is a grey cloud. Sigh!

Oh yes that brings back memories. I remember getting up on the night before our second baby was born and watching the snow fall outside. It was April 1st. What a joke. Hope it goes soon.

I hope it melted since you wrote this post and that now the flowers are peeking through. I could feel your anger at the snow.

Oh, Rob...I'm so glad things are thawing!!! Hope it gets warm enough for planting soon! Bear hugs for you, Janine

®Reasons: Actually, the joke goes on. See next post.

®Dana: Sounds like a lack of action in your house. But Bear has been known to make HUGE misteaks.

®Janine: Planting doesn't start until sometime in May. My next post will explain.
