AND, IN THE NEWS, . . .

We're still in the Dog Days of Summer. Well at least summer; though, officially, I think the Dog days may have passed. Perhaps mentally still in the Dog days.

Now that we're into September, I've read some women bloggers who are finding time a bit long on their hands. These are SAHMs — stay at home moms. They are almost at the "hardly know what to do with myself" stage, now that their darlings have gone back to school. The house is empty all day, except for themselves, some Canines, and a few other Furry Creatures.

So, to bring some light into their lives, and perhaps yours, Bear has been rounding up some news. (You can take the Bear out of the newsroom, but you can't take the newsroom out of the Bear.)

Our top story: The Dog who thought he was a politician.

We also have a story about a Bear, who had a misadventure in the land of the Humans. (Thanks to our correspondent, Lydia, in Oregon, who dug up the Bear facts on this one.)

And, a major announcement from The Bear Party, my favourite politicians.

Turning to sports, the World Cup of Rugby begins this week in New Zealand. Canada, ever the non-contender, is up against some tough opposition. Our correspondent, Richard, in Brisbane, Australia, (also knows as BrisVegas) will have updates for us. If he doesn't over-celebrate.

And, that's the news.

r-bear,

WHAT have you been teaching your kin to do? first it's bears driving (priuses, good choice ;-) but what will be next? bears piloting planes? (reminds me of an old saturday night live sketch called bear city) this will greatly concern my husband as he has a pathological fear of bears.......with the stock market's performance as of late seems they are taking over the world......

Good news round up and I always love a bit of Borowitz. Also everyone in NZ - even those who hate rugby - are very excited about the World Cu[p. I'm a Sahm and alone for the first time this morning. it is weird having six straight hours without the din, but no complaints from me!

The bear's brain is definitely in investigation and reporting mode.

Woof, woof.
Ella was a SAHM for 17 years until Lyn was in Grade 6. Raised our kids and half the neighbours'. She had volunteered in the school for several years before then. Library assistant and noon lunch program mostly. In winter, kids could bring lunch and eat at school under supervision. The first mom they hired to supervise noon lunch was having discipline problems. So they called in Ella. Order was restored IMMEDIATELY.

® Amanda: Of course we're taking over the world. You're just figuring that out now? Too late, I'm afraid.
And as for your investments, are you saying you can't Bear the thoughts of the Bear market? Sorry; we're taking over Wall street, for the long term.
Bulls be gone; we'll accept no more bull from them.

® About Last Weekend: Oh Jody — no trouble with peace and quite. Good for you! BTW, is the inside of your head echoing?
And the All Blacks at the World Cup have been replaced by Black Bears. Only those Bears are smarter than the one in the Prius. Expect the same scores from the All Black Bears that you would see if the All Blacks were on the pitch!

® Beau's Mom: Well, the Bear's brain is in some mode. No details on that story.
Did Beau like the Dog story?

® The Golden Eagle: Glad you enjoyed the news, even if it wasn't terribly uplifting.

® Blog Fodder: You're not going Republican on me now, are ya?
And Ella, I could well imagine she could restore order promptly. Probably kept you out of a lot of trouble, too.

I'm very ready for the world cup from NZ as I'm a big rugby fan. In order I support England, Scotland, South Africa and France so surely one of them will do well?!

SAHMs find 'time a bit long on their hands'? Not this one! Thanks for the news though.

My vote is for the dog. I think he will go far in politics.

® Craig: Hope you enjoy the tournament. The only thing I know about rugby is that I played it years ago, in university, when a tri was worth three points. (Yes, I'm that old.)

® Preseli Mags: With the number of critters you have on your smallholding, time would NEVER be long on your hands. Considering your sheep, horses, dogs, chickens, and guinea pigs, you're a busy lady. Not to mention girls and husband. (The cats, I'm sure, look after themselves, as is the wont of cats.)

® Reforming Geek: Loved your comment on the dog. I have considerable sympathy for your position. Shows where politics have gone.

Thanks for your visit. BTW I too am still trying to figure out what I want to be when I grow up :)

Mmmm, I used to have that problem many years ago but have since changed my tune. I have learned the fine art of enjoying my own company and always find something to do that interests me.
Love Di ♥
