PLAYING IN THE RAIN

The long-awaited rain storm has arrived. It's just pouring buckets outside. Environment Canada's Weather Office has predicted some localized flooding.

And guess who wanted to go outside and play "fetch" in the back yard?

(Hint: It wasn't the Bear, who had on his storm suit.)

The only other possible character for this was Her Ladyship, Miss Sadie — the Standard Poodle. Her genetics tell her she's a retriever; she also has webbed paws, for working in water.

You can figure it out from there.

P.S.: We went out and played for 15 minutes. It wasn't Miss Sadie who wanted to come in at that point.

There was an old Saskatchewan farmer who said he'd spent 80 years praying for rain and 5 years praying for it to stop.

Yeah! Embrace the weather, Sadie says. Fun can always be had at another time.

Lulu has a curiously ambivalent attitude to wet weather. She has to be virtually pushed through the door if it's raining. Once she's out there, there's no getting her back in. It's almost as if once she is wet, it then becomes great fun.

®Teacher's Pet: It actually wasn't too bad; we could have been playing in a hurricane!

®BF: You know, I might know that farmer, too.

®Rosaria: I also embraced the nice, hot vegetable stew I made for lunch. (I could send you the recipe.)

®Jean: Well, Sadie is certainly NOT ambivalent about playing in the rain!

Dogs are so different - one of mine loves the rain and will stand outside with her head up catching raindrops. The other is like Jean's Lulu - having to be pushed literally out of the door.

Ms. Sadie is simply wonderful...and so is Bear!! Bears may not like rain, but they make great playmates for Standard Poodles...;-)) Sounds like a good time was had by all!! Love the new blog colors, by the way! Looks really sharp...I'm a big fan of deep green! Hope you have a wonderful weekend, my friend! Bear hugs for my favorite bear, Janine

®Janine: actually, there are a lot of things the Bear used to like, which Bear doesn't like quite as much now. Like being out in the rain. Or going camping, in the rain and mosquito season.

Thanks for the toughs about the blog changes.

Hi Bear.!

Just wish my Daisy Boo took a leaf out of Miss Sadie's book, she loathes getting wet, always thought JRT's were little toughies, not so when it comes to rain.

Poor Daisy. I'm sorry for her.

Miss Sadie, on the other had, has a message for Daisy: "Be a dog about it, eh?" (Her Ladyship can be quite "direct" about things, sometimes.)
